One of the lintels has a seated figure with an enormous serpent rising above him carved on to it. The roof comb bears a faded sculpture of the seated king, Jasaw Chan K’awiil.

The rooftop comb contains two parallel structures with an enclosed, vaulted hollow between them. This not only gives the design a decidedly “Mayan” look to the architecture, but also act as an ingenious load bearing device which reduces the weight of the construction. This weight of this massive superstructure is carried though through the spine of the temple.

The front of the roof comb was finished with massive stone blocks which created three narrow, dark chambers accessible through the single doorway at the front.
